What happened to Police Being the "good guys?"

March 27, 2007 was Mom's Birthday. My sister and I treated Mom to dinner at her favorite restuarant and retreated back at her house for Birthday Cake. Having a long drive I got the kids packed up and headed home.
I leave my sister with "call me tomorrow or I'll call you."

As I put my son on the bus, i go inside to call my sister, this is part of both of our days. She answers only to say my fourteen old nephew was up sick all night throwing up. She was up and down all night and wants to lay back down for a bit since she has to work as an ICU RN at 7pm.

My sister was widowed at the young age of 33, only four and a half months after having a baby. She was left not only to pick up the pieces of having a completely happy marriage, picture perfect life, but to raise five kids.

I went about my day, grocery shopping, room mother at school, and shopping for a birthday gift for the birthday party sleep over on Saturday. Just a normal day in the life of me.

At about 2pm I receive a phone call from Mom, soon as I hear her voice, I know something is terribly wrong. She tells me I need to meet her at my sisters house. My legs begin to shake, and the sick feeling comes to my stomach. Mom tells me Everyone is Ok, and well meet at my sisters house.

Mom and I arrive together and as we walk into my sisters home, The site was surreal. My sister, Jason, Michael, who was home sick that day, and my four year old nephew Jay sit in the great room all with vacant looks on their faces.

My sister begins by saying as she laid back down that morning, she was awakened my a "complete stranger" standing over her bed as she slept. She awoke to this "stranger" screaming at her "GET OUT OF BED" "GET DOWNSTAIRS" My four year old nephew Jay lay next to her in bed. She got out of bed and this "stranger" informs her he is a Police Officer with the Aurora Police Department and they have enterend her home with a Felony Sealed Search Warrant. She is greeted in her kitchen by the Chief Of Police of the Aurora Police Department, Seth Riewaldt. My sister is informed by the Chief to "GO SIT DOWN" she demands to know what is going on. He tells my sister, "A Serious, Serious Crime" has been committed and I feel we can find proof of the crime on the property we are taking. She asks what property and he hands her some stapled papers that defines anything electronic in her home, including televisions. My sister asks, "how did you get in my home" Michael speaks up and informs his mom, Jeff didnt put the garage door down when he caught the school bus, The Chief of Police, and his Troop entered the open garage and began to Beat on the door, as Micheal was sick in the bathroom. Michael is ambivilent by the beating on the door, he walks to the door without opening it and says, "WHO IS IT" from the other side. The Chief demands he open the door and announces, "It's the police" Michael opens the door and is presented with the Felony Sealed Search Warrant. He tells the Police I'll get my mom, and tries to close the door, but the Police and Detectives push their way in and one follows Michael up to his Mom's room, knocking him to his knees. He was ordered to "GO DOWNSTAIRS" as well.

Michael watches as his mother, like himself have become prisoners in their home. Jason was sleeping downstairs and was awakened by two strange men as the flipped the mattress he lay on throwing him to the floor. A modest person, Jason attempts to reach for his jeans since he has only a pair of underwear on. He is threatened by both of the men and made to come upstairs in his underwear to sit in front of his Mother and brother.

My sister gets up and is looking for her phone, she needs to call for help. She is charged by Seth Riewaldt and told that she must "ASK" for permission to move a finger before she does it, since this "serious serious crime that has occurred that will send someone to Prison for 7-20 years"

My sister asks What is the crime that has been committed, Seth Riewaldt informs her, he cannot tell her, she then asks Who is responsible for the allegations? He once again informs her, I cannot tell you, This Warrant is Sealed, so the Affiant, (person making the compliant) or the Affidavit, which is a sworn statement the Affiant makes are protected and will remain that way. My sister realizes the phone is in her bedroom and not used to being a prisoner in her home, habit dictates standing up to go get it, and once again, is rushed by Seth Riewaldt and another Police Officer. One detective goes to get it at which time my sister lets him know to be quiet since Jay is sleeping. Seth Riewaldt screams in my sisters face and demands to know, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THIS HOUSE. She makes him aware Jay is sleeping in the same bed she was. Upstairs as the stranger retrieves my sisters phone, Jay wakes up and begins crying screaming, "MaMa" "MaMa" My sister is informed by the Police Chief and police officer, "Don't Move" and the police officer places his hand on his gun strapped around him. Jay Screams again, "MaMa" "MaMa" My sister yells for Jay to come down, and in that instant, there is a "Boom" from upstairs and a voice screams to Jay, "GET DOWN STAIRS" Jay comes running down the steps with a look of someone running for their life.
My sister and her sons sit for the next several hours, as complete strangers go through any part of their house they want to and take anything they choose. Jason watches in complete horror as his computer network he designed and installed downstairs is ripped apart, he watches as both of his cameras, his cell phone, are thrown into brown grocery bags and carried out. The next sight reduces Jason to becoming physically ill as Detective Pat Domos walks from his bedroom swinging his 21 inch widescreen LCD Moniter in one hand and his other hand has his BOSE speakers swinging them by the cables. Jason is 20 years old and over the past three years, worked and bought every piece and part of the 18K in property that is being taken from him without explanation.
My sister in wants to know how long this investigation is going to take, since she and my nephews are set to move to another state in just 3 weeks. The police officer in the kitchen pipes in saying, "Alot Longer Than 3 weeks" My sister reitterates You're taking my property and Im not allowd to know WHY? She is told again, Yes.
My sister watches as Domos drags another computer from Jasons room. This computer belonged to her husband and she. She packed it away to save forever, also this computer has pictures of she and her husband that are Priceless, can never be replaced. Not to Mention all of the Motions and Briefs, all of her husbands Legal work remain on this computer. "bang" "bang' the tower hits the stairs. She watches as one detective now open the doors on the bookshelves in the room that was his office, she watched as the detective takes 3.5 floppy disks that held Legal Motions belonging to him, tossing them into a brown paper bag. Next she watches as the computer that just had the Updates downloaded and installed throughout the night so she would be able to log on the net and take the "TEST" as a part of employment with the Level One Hospital she hopes to work for. A sense of Terror begins to consume my sister, since the computer that sits has the file that holds her professional resume that she just paid 150.00 no more than a month ago is thrown in the brown paper bag. The CD that holds the Resume File is scooped up and thrown in a brown paper bag, along with the brand new 99 bland CDR's. (She gave me one the prior week while visiting.)

Just as the Troop is leaving my sister once again informs Seth Reiwaldt of the move to a new state 2000 miles away. Seth then informs my sister, well when were done well give you a call and you can fly home here to claim your stuff. MY sister asks, I'll have to pay, and he says, If you want your stuff. My sister begins thinking outloud stating, It's going to cost 1200.00 -1500.00 to ship this alone, and a plane ticket........Seth Pipes up, Well if you want your stuff, thats what is going to happen. Then they are gone like "thieves" in the night.
Michael goes up to his bedroom and finds the contents of his bookbag he carries to school, scattered all over the room. Michael yells down to his mother, informing her, the green cloth triangular case that held the mouthpiece of the Bass Clarinet, that belongs to his school, is unzipped and the mouthpiece missing. My sister and Jason go up pick up the mess made by unzipping and throwing Michaels bookbag contents all over the room. My sister calls Seth Riewaldt, back at the police station which is 2 miles from her home. She is told by the dispatcher The Diamond Store at Aurora Farms has been robbed, and the Chief will be tied up.
